What is dynamic routing?

Dynamic routing refers to a method of network routing that automatically adjusts to changes in the network topology, primarily using routing protocols. These protocols enable routers to communicate with one another and share information about the network's structure, allowing them to dynamically update their routing tables based on real-time data.

This automatic adjustment facilitates efficient routing by adapting to factors such as network congestion, outages, or the addition of new devices. As a result, dynamic routing is particularly beneficial in large or complex networks where manual route management would be cumbersome and inefficient. The capability to respond to changes ensures optimal performance and reliability of data transmission across the network.

In contrast, manually configured routes or static routes do not change in reaction to network conditions.
